Seminole Lacrosse 2020

Seminole Lacrosse is excited to announce changes for the spring of 2020 and beyond. The Seminole Board along with the youth coaches have been working to implement improvements for the 2020 season including:

  1. A commitment to our mission which is to help children grow as both athletes and people through lacrosse.
  2. Implementing age appropriate play with smaller fields, more playing time, and more opportunities to handle the ball.
  3. Expanding opportunities to learn and play lacrosse in order to grow the game.

Seminole Lacrosse is excited about the changes and renewed energy surrounding our efforts to strengthen lacrosse in the Charlottesville/Albemarle region. We hope that you will join us in the fun and have a ball.

May Update
Hope everyone is still staying healthy.

After a couple of months of remaining hopeful that things would change for the better it seems that even though things may be turning a corner and slowly reopening around the area we are still not at the point of taking the field.

In a best case scenario we could look at getting back onto the field when Phase 2 begins sometime in early June and play out through June and July, however things just seem to keep getting pushed back and there is not guarantee that Phase 1 would not last longer into June than expected.

Based on what out peer youth organizations have done locally this Spring with refunds as well as keeping inline with other youth lacrosse organizations we will offer a 50% refund of league fee paid or the ability for those who wish to make a tax deductible contribution to our 501c-3 for the full amount of their registration fee. Refund request Link

Moving Forward:

Ongoing talks with Albemarle County on field use and timing to have some type of pick up program in July and August

Talking further with Lynchburg and Waynesboro to play some friendly games this Summer - Summer 7v7 with games at James River Day School in Lynchburg and Fishburn Military School in Waynesboro - hope to host games locally (will find out 6/11 on Albemarle Co fields)

Also looking at potential for Travel Club opportunities with a tournament in late July in Culpeper and other in early August in Williamsburg - as the overall picture begins to clear up at the end of May we can begin to look at more travel club details.

What other youth sports organizations have done for the spring:

VHSL has canceled all Spring sports

Local girls leagues (Cav Lax & AGLL) has canceled their spring season - Cav Lax 50% refund & AGLL offering credit towards future participation

SOCA has canceled in Charlottesville & Albemarle - 50% refund or tax deductible contribution - planning 3v3 offering in Waynesboro for Summer

Local little league baseball (McIntire, Peachtree, Northside, Fluvanna,  etc) has announced they are planning to resume practice and games in June & July
